Yunfei Ren (°1987, China) is a Chinese & Dutch artist based in San Francisco. His work critically investigates identity and the notion of belonging. Through photography, he present identities as fluid and diverse in the context of citizenship, sexuality, and cultural polarization.
How does nature heal after a wildfire? Two years after the 2018 Carr Fire in Northern California, I visited the sites of devastation. The three images personify Mother Nature to represent remembrance, protection and rebirth. I draw a poignant parallel between the lack of respect for Mother Nature and the indifference that we humans often have for each other.
